All I Want for Christmas as a Product Owner
Reflections from 10 Years in the Software Industry

Welcome to the last meetup in 2023! Every end depicts new beginnings, so we decided to prepare an agile list of wishes from the perspective of a Product Owner, recall good and bad times, and mark some new goals for the next year.

In an attempt to satisfy some procedures, Product Owners sometimes forget that the most important thing is to provide value to the customer or user, but not to reach some quantitative targets, follow strict forms in writing user stories, or worry about team organisation.
In this meetup, we will discuss some of the biggest anti-patterns our amazing speaker, Petar Ljubić, has faced (and is still facing) during his 10 years of working in the software industry.
We'll discuss common mistakes that Product Owners often make, diverting their focus from providing real value. Some topics that will be covered are:

• One big misconception is thinking that every team should use the same approach. We'll explore why this might not be the best fit for everyone and why flexibility is key.
• Getting certified is important, but just attending a short workshop doesn't make someone a great Product Owner. We'll talk about the importance of continuous learning and gaining practical experience.
• Also, our speaker will explain why not everything can be neatly written as 'As a user, I want…' Often times we forget why we are writing our goals in that form.

As the year draws to a close, we find ourselves reflecting on hundreds of days immersed in the dynamic world of software. With the holiday season upon us, it's a fitting time to share some reflections and aspirations from the trenches of product ownership. Join us on December 7th, online at 6:30 p.m.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Petar Ljubić completed his master's studies at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Nis. He started his career as an Android developer at Webelinx and leads the development of mobile applications for the site "Polovni automobili". For almost three years, he worked as a Product Owner in the mobile application industry, and he considers his greatest success to be leading an organisation of five teams as an Agile Delivery Lead. Today, he lives in Germany and works on important projects for the Volkswagen Group.
