Cultivating Team Health with PETALS: A People-First Framework for Modern Leaders

Details

We obsess over deployment frequency, MTTR, and velocity — but how often do we measure how our teams are really doing?

In this interactive workshop, Si Jobling introduces PETALS, a lightweight team health framework designed for modern tech teams. It’s already helping squads across the world reflect on five critical factors: Productivity, Enjoyment, Teamwork, Learning, and Serenity.

You’ll work through real-world case studies, explore what happens when metrics are misused, and practise designing PETALS snapshots that lead to better retros, safer conversations, and healthier delivery cultures. It’s for engineering leaders, agile coaches, and curious makers who want more than just good dashboards — they want teams that thrive.

Come for the honesty. Stay for the flower-based metaphors.

About Si:

Si Jobling is an Engineering Manager at Rightmove with 20+ years in tech, leading delivery across customer platforms, operational tooling, and cloud migrations. He created PETALS to help software teams move beyond surface-level retros and start meaningful conversations about how they work - and feel!

He’s also a podcaster, advocate for neurodiversity, and recovering front-end dev with a soft spot for culture, community, and the odd dad joke.
