First ABC Meetup: A Roll-Up-Your Sleeves Culture Hacking Event!

Have you ever been offered a job at an “Agile shop” - to learn that the organizational culture you hired into, well, really didn’t support agility? Or you started in a fast-moving no-hierarchy start-up -and suddenly got acquired? And when you tried to change something, you were told “that’s not how we work here.”

Changing a culture can be daunting - but it also can be fun!

For our first ABC meetup, by request, we’re going to learn what CULTURE HACKING Is all about, and roll up our sleeves to try some hacking on our own!

Culture, like language, is an adaptive, self-organizing, and complex system. The “culture” of a company is like the operating system - which can't be changed by simply applying “best practices” or “new rules”. Cultural Hacking is basically an infiltration into systems, using the tension, or “cracks” of the existing culture, changing their coding with art, or often with a subversive game.

We’ll spend the first 15 minutes being sure we’re all clear on what a culture hack is and how to create one, then divide into groups of 4 or 5, and tackle the top culture hack ideas on the list and see how many hacks we come up with!
