What metrics (agile or otherwise) have you actually found to be valuable?

Teams talk a lot about metrics — but which ones actually help teams deliver value, improve flow, and make better decisions? And which ones look good on a slide deck but don’t tell us anything meaningful? Worse yet, what have you found that's driving negative outcomes?

This month, we’re digging into the metrics that truly matter in real-world work. Whether they come from Scrum, Kanban, product management, engineering, or broader business practices, let's discuss. We’ll explore questions like:

  • What metrics have consistently guided your team toward better outcomes?
  • Which ones support real conversations and lead to real value?
  • What common metrics have you found…less than helpful?!
  • How do you use metrics without falling into command-and-control patterns?
  • What non-Agile (customer, product, business) metrics have added unexpected value?

Bring your favorite measures, the ones you retired, and the ones you’re still experimenting with. This is a chance to compare notes, challenge assumptions, and learn what’s working for others.

Grab your lunch and let's discuss!
