Agile PM Roundtable: What would you like to say to “the boss”?

Details
Let's be real: Power dynamics, whether implicit or explicit, exist and they impact how we interact with others and how we achieve results. People in different roles purposefully have different vantage points, perspectives, and responsibilities that influence what they do, how they do it, why they do it, and with whom they do it. "Bosses" exist to ensure that decisions are made and actions are taken that are in the best interest of the overall organization, especially as that organization grows in scope and scale to meet more complex challenges. And everyone has a boss.
Unlike your peers, the boss seems...different. Those differences in responsibilities, skillsets, and behaviors can make it difficult to know how to interact effectively with the boss, especially when that boss holds power over decisions that impact you and those around you.
In December's edition of the Agile PM Roundtable, we'll explore how you can work effectively with your boss and other people in your organization who hold positions of influence and power (real or perceived). We'll convene a Lean Coffee to discuss questions that are of interest to you like:
- What’s motivating you to talk to the “the boss”?
- How can you tailor your communication for the boss?
- What experiences have you had when talking to the boss? What was effective? What wasn’t?
We hope to see you there!

AgilePDX is providing a forum for Agile Project Managers, Agile Facilitators, and Scrum Masters to gather online once a month and discuss all things project, program, and portfolio related. Please join us for a Lean Coffee style event facilitated by experienced Agile PM's and instructors in the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner prep program.
You'll be dialing in from your desktop with your favorite early morning brew. Please join with your camera on. The Zoom URL will be provided to confirmed attendees. Feel free to post questions to this meetup prior to the event.
We welcome divergent opinions and experience reports. Bring your challenges for groups feedback and support. Plan to join 15 minutes early for coffee clatch chat and networking or stay 15 minutes for the same networking experience.
