How can we transform our towns and cities into democratic, self-managed communities? Join us for a lively discussion on Murray Bookchin’s concept of municipalization—a vision for a politics rooted in direct democracy, citizens’ assemblies, and confederated local governance.
Drawing from Bookchin’s essay Municipalization, we will explore historical and contemporary examples of grassroots municipal movements—from the Paris Commune to Spanish libertarian communism—and consider how these ideas might be applied in today’s urban struggles.
This event will feature:
✅ A short introduction to libertarian municipalism
✅ A group discussion on strategies for reclaiming local power
✅ Space for collaborative brainstorming on applying these ideas in our own communities
Whether you’re a seasoned activist, an urban planner, or simply curious about radical municipal politics, this is a space to connect and imagine alternatives to centralized power.
Come and join the conversation!
