What we’re about
Atlanta based nonprofit, Wedge Inc, in collaboration with the Atlanta Interdisciplinary AI (AIAI) Network present “Empowering Narratives: AI and Artistry in Atlanta’s Historically Underserved Creative Communities.”
Empowering Narratives is a series Atlanta based workshops and creative storytelling events partnering with Atlanta area poets, writers, filmmakers, and creators in accessibility, underrepresented, LGBTQ2IA+, and immigrant communities to explore traditional and next generation artistry.
We’ll also highlight the ethical use of AI technology, define data bias and data justice, and collect feedback data from the community. In Fall 2024 we will showcase our storytellers and give them a chance to share their work. Presented by Wedge and AIAI (Emory, Georgia Tech, and Clark Atlanta University), an intentionally interdisciplinary network of Atlanta-based researchers investigating how to enlist AI ethically, equitably, and in the service of justice.

How to find the Public Art Futures Lab: The Public Art Futures Lab is located in Underground Atlanta on the lower level, you can not see our space from the street! Our address is (88 Lower Alabama Street SW, Atlanta, GA, 30303)
For ADA assistance to access our space, please email Kathleen.Brown@fultoncountyga.gov ahead of time or call Underground Security - 770-829-7282 when you arrive and they will direct you to the elevator.
A simple way to find us is by using the MARTA Five Points Station as your starting point (30 Alabama St SW, Atlanta, GA 30303). Exit the station and cross Peachtree Street toward the Underground Atlanta Tower. Look for the Underground Atlanta signage and follow it to a stairway leading down to a courtyard. Once in the courtyard with fountains, look for the row of glass doors, use the far-right entrance glass door. You’ll see the Public Art Futures Lab directly ahead, and restrooms are located to the right of the space.
MARTA, Rideshare, or Paid Parking: Street parking along Pryor Street and Peachtree Street SW is often free on Sundays. There are also several paid parking decks and parking lots nearby on Wall Street.

About the Public Art Futures Lab: The Futures Lab is a space to exhibit, experiment, educate and experience the role of technology as it relates to public art. By reducing barriers to creating and participating in this emerging space, the Lab seeks to expand access to cultural enrichment, provide the tools for local artists to thrive and maintain Fulton County's status as a creative cultural capital. The Futures Lab is made possible through the support of our host Underground Atlanta, our residency partners Atlanta Downtown and MARTA Artbound, our knowledge partners, Georgia Tech Arts, Georgia State's CMII, Spelman Innovation Lab, and our outreach partner, Orange Barrel Media.
Funding provided in part by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners under the guidance of the Department of Community Development.
