After an extended summer break, the AI Austria Innsbruck - AI Meetup continues for it's 5th edition! This time we are hosted and sponsored by Innerspace.

This meetup is part of our growing AI community in Tyrol, with a clear technical focus. We go beyond high-level overviews and look into how models, systems, and real projects actually work.
The main goal is to learn from each other and to connect industry and academia. Expect technical talks, practical insights, and space for real discussions with people who actively build and research AI.
This event is fully in English, so internationals are very welcome :)

Reinforcement Learning in Real World Applications?

Despite having great success in games like Go, and in training language models, we still rarely see reinforcement learning being used "in the wild". In this talk we will look at some examples of why that is the case, and some ways Reinforcement Learning can still be used in real world settings, and where we think a big impact can come from.

Building Video Understanding Pipelines with VLMs

This talk covers general approaches to building video understanding pipelines with vision-language models, and the steps needed to get from raw frames to reliable descriptions and answers: framing the problem, choosing the right model and setting up the scaffolding around it, and fine-tuning on domain-specific tasks.
