AI Design LA: AI-native design, in practice

This group brings together UX designers, product thinkers, and design engineers across Southern California who are exploring how AI is reshaping the way we design, build, and ship digital experiences.

This isn't a single-topic meetup. We're here to push beyond any one workflow into the full range of ways AI is changing design practice — from vibe coding and prompt-driven prototyping, to AI-powered design systems and component generation, to the harder organizational question of what it actually takes to make a design team AI-native.

Whether you're experimenting with tools like Figma, Claude Design, or building custom workflows, vibe coding your way to a working prototype, or rethinking how your team's tools and processes need to change, this community is a space to share, learn, and evolve together.

What we explore:

  • Vibe coding and AI-assisted prototyping
  • AI-powered design systems, tokens, and component generation
  • AI-native product design workflows and practices
  • How to build an AI-native design team and culture
  • The latest AI tooling for designers, and how it's actually being used (not just announced)
  • Where AI in design starts to raise real questions — bias, authorship, deskilling, and how we use it responsibly
  • Real-world case studies, wins, and failures using AI in design

Our format is simple and consistent: monthly in-person meetups across SoCal, typically casual lunch mixers with optional demos, lightning talks, and open discussion. The goal is high-signal conversation without the fluff — a place where practitioners can exchange ideas, tools, and techniques that actually move the needle.

Who this is for:

  • UX/UI designers and product designers
  • Design system specialists and design engineers
  • Frontend developers working closely with design
  • Design leaders and managers rethinking how their teams work
  • AI engineers and developers who want to actually understand design, not just ship features past it
  • Anyone curious about applying AI to modern design practice

If you're thinking about how AI can accelerate not just what you design, but how you design, build, and lead — you'll fit right in.
