What we’re about
Join AI & Edge Computing Sydney!
We're a hands-on community exploring, sharing, and shaping Edge AI and embedded intelligence – from GenAI and LLMs to embedded systems and SoC technologies, as intelligence moves closer to where data is created.
We bring together developers, engineers, founders, academics, and curious minds through expert talks, live demos, and open mics – with plenty of opportunities to connect.
Take a look at our event photos to see what we've been up – and feel free to add yours after the next meetup.
We dive into topics such as:
- AI Technologies: GenAI, LLMs, Deep Learning, Machine Vision
- Edge Computing: Embedded CPUs (x86, ARM, RISC-V)
- System-on-a-Chip (SoC): FPGA SoCs, MPUs, MCUs, ASICs
Got an idea, project, or talk to share? We're always open to collaborations and speakers – reach out to the organiser directly or submit your proposal using THIS FORM.

Agenda:
5:30 pm – 6:00 pm | Check-in, Pizza & Networking
Enjoy some pizza & drinks while connecting with fellow attendees.6:00 pm – 6:05 pm | Welcome & Intro
Hear a short welcome from the organiser.6:05 pm – 6:30 pm | Talk 1 – Edge AI Acceleration Options on Low Wattage Devices
- Speaker: Rob Newport, Founder, RapidAnalysis
Dr. Robert Ahadizad Newport is a machine learning researcher and entrepreneur specialising in computational neuroscience and eye-tracking analytics. He earned his PhD in Neuroscience from Macquarie University, where his startup RapidAnalysis is incubated, with an active Kickstarter for his second Edge AI device called the Xerxes Pi. - Overview: This talk explores the various hardware and software options available for accelerating AI workloads on low wattage edge devices, such as single-board computers, microcontrollers, and embedded systems. It covers trade-offs between performance, power consumption, and cost, highlighting the use of specialised accelerators like NPUs, TPUs, and FPGAs, as well as optimisation techniques including model quantisation and pruning. It offers guidance on selecting the right tools and architectures to enable efficient, real-time AI inference at the edge without relying on cloud connectivity.
6:30 pm – 6:55 pm | Talk 2 – Redefining Hardware DevOps: How to Simplify and Scale Remote Testing
- Speakers: Muhammad Amasha and Anton Lohr, Founders, AnyDev
Muhammad Amasha brings extensive experience in embedded systems within highly regulated industries, including roles working with General Motors and Jaguar Land Rover. His co-founder, Dr. Anton Lohr, holds a PhD in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering, and has led the development of scalable automation systems across both research and industry. - Overview: This talk introduces AnyCloud, a core part of AnyDev's mission to simplify testing and automation for developers working with hardware. AnyCloud enables remote, scalable access to physical devices – so developers can test, debug, and validate their embedded systems from anywhere, without needing to be physically present in the lab. By removing friction from the testing process, AnyCloud helps teams move faster, catch issues earlier, and focus on what they do best: building great products.
6:55 pm – 7:20 pm | Talk 3 – Architect Intelligence: Unlocking AI's True Potential at the Edge with Innodisk AI Solution
- Speaker: Vincent Lee, Assistant Sales Manager, Innodisk
Vincent Lee is Assistant Manager in the Global Sales Division, Asia-Pacific, at Innodisk. With over a decade of experience across the APAC and MEA markets, he collaborates closely with global partners to support the deployment of industrial-grade and Edge AI solutions. - Overview: This talk showcases how Innodisk is leveraging its expertise in industrial-grade peripherals, alongside critical edge sensors, to deliver tailored solutions for diverse Edge AI applications. From compact NPU-powered systems to high-performance MGX servers, their scalable platforms are built to meet a wide range of deployment needs. Backed by strategic partnerships with AMD, Qualcomm, NVIDIA, and Intel, Innodisk continues to shape what's next in AI at the edge.
7:20 pm – 7:30 pm | Community Open Mic
Take the mic and share with the group – from hardware demos and embedded prototypes to quick AI at the edge announcements like hiring, seeking collaborators, or calls for feedback.Wrap-up & Social
