AI Engineering Seoul #1: Learning AI Together

Hi everyone, I'm Javi.

I'm an AI engineer, and I'm organizing this group to build a community of people who are learning, building, and exploring AI together.

The goal is not just to study AI Engineering. It's also to meet people with similar interests, exchange ideas, and build genuine friendships around a shared curiosity for the field.

Everyone wants to learn AI, but with LLMs, agents, and AI startups dominating the conversation, it's easy to feel overwhelmed about what actually matters and where to begin.

This session is for developers with basic python knowledge who want a clear, honest mental model of the AI landscape. No hype, no sales pitch, just an opportunity to learn together and discuss the field openly.

We'll start by introducing ourselves, sharing our backgrounds, why we want to learn AI, and what we're currently confused about. The idea is to help people find others who are at a similar stage or interested in similar things before the session even begins.

We'll cover:

*What AI Engineering actually is

• How AI, ML, DL, and Generative AI relate to each other
  *Common misconceptions about the field
• Why many beginners get stuck

No advanced math and no AI experience required. Bring a laptop if you have one.

After we wrap up, anyone who wants to get to know other like-minded people is welcome to join for coffee or dinner nearby. Totally optional.

This is the first session of what I hope becomes an ongoing community. Future topics will be driven partly by what the group finds most interesting and useful.

Location

The meetup will take place in the Gangnam area. The exact venue is still being finalized and will be announced before the event.
