Can We Run a Society Together? An Interactive Simulation

What happens when a group of strangers has to make decisions for an entire society?

In this interactive online experiment, we'll find out.

Instead of talking about democracy, citizen participation or collective decision-making, we'll actually try it. Together, we'll take control of a simulated society and face a series of choices about its future.

Should we prioritize economic growth or quality of life? Invest in security or civil liberties? Raise taxes to fund public services? And what happens when a decision that sounds good creates unexpected consequences later? These are some of the dilemma's that we might encounter.

Throughout the session, you'll use an interactive platform I'm building specifically for this experiment. You'll be able to explore issues, share your perspective, see what others think and collectively decide what our society should do next.

The simulation will respond to our choices, creating new situations and trade-offs as the session unfolds.

This is not a lecture. There are no right answers.

It's part game, part social experiment and part exploration of a bigger question:

How do groups of people make good decisions when they have different values, priorities and ideas about what society should become?

No knowledge of politics, economics or technology is required — just bring your opinions and curiosity.

The platform itself is also an experiment, so you'll be among the first people to try it and help shape where it goes next.
