Workshop facilitators will host activities while working through building the NYC 311 Chat AI Assistant sandbox, an educational initiative within the Open Civic Tech Project.

What You’ll Learn
In this beginner-friendly course, you’ll get an introduction on Conversational AI Design research and discovery methods, and practice deploying the bot through Voiceflow. We’re focusing on the NYC 311 Service chat assistant project that will be lead by Superbloom and Femmecubator’s Open Civic Tech program fellows and team.

Are there any prerequisites in terms of design, coding, or AI familiarity?
No, this workshop is intended for beginners. Foundational UX knowledge is helpful.
What design concepts will be taught in this workshop?
Design methodology needed in building Conversational Interfaces. You will be introduced in the discovery process of an example Chatbot project, and leave with a FigJam template that you can practice with.
What accounts need to be set up in advance?
Students need Figma, Claude, and Voiceflow accounts. Free accounts will work.
What is the anticipated outcome or goal of this session?
By the end of this workshop, we will build a sample bot using Voiceflow, and deploy the bot on the browser.
