Title: Asking LLMs to Verify First is Almost Free Lunch
Content: Verification-First (VF) improves LLM reasoning by prompting models to verify a candidate answer—even a random one—before generating their own solution, triggering complementary "reverse reasoning" that reduces logical errors. Its extension, Iter-VF, iteratively cycles verification and generation using the model's previous answers. Both methods outperform standard Chain-of-Thought and existing test-time scaling strategies across diverse benchmarks with minimal overhead.

In the Paper Discussion Group (PDG) we discuss recent and fundamental papers in the area of machine learning on a weekly basis. If you are interested, please read the paper beforehand and join us for the discussion. If you have not fully understood the paper, you can still participate – everyone is welcome! You can join the discussion or simply listen in. The discussion is in German or English depending on the participants.
