Fraud Detection using Semantics Tecnology in a NoSQL Database

Data Science Phoenix is excited to have Billy Sokol from MarkLogic (http://www.marklogic.com/) in April 2016. Billy will discuss application of advanced database technology to address emerging data complexity issues.
• Responding to widespread proliferation of data in the enterprise, including related information stored in non-integrated systems and the increasing presence of semi-structured and unstructured data.
• Using data not present in the enterprise, such as social media, weather, and customer behavior data together with internal data to enable new forms of analysis.
• Addressing security and data governance concerns in a multi-stakeholder and multi-system environment.
Additionally, we will show how the concept of Semantics can help reveal unexpected relationships in data through a demonstration of a system designed to detect prescription drug fraud.
Speaker Bio:
William ‘Billy’ Sokol is the Chief Technology Officer, Global Public Sector for MarkLogic Corporation. He is responsible for Vertical Strategy and Go-To-Market with particular focus on Security, Law Enforcement, and Public Safety. In this role, Mr. Sokol regularly meets and supports National Security, Public Safety, and Civilian leadership from dozens of agencies in over ten countries, including CIO, operations, and senior acquisition executives. Previously at MarkLogic, Mr. Sokol was the ISR Programs Lead where he was responsible for strategy across the Department of Defense Intelligence Information Systems (DoDIIS) and service-specific intelligence organizations including the Distributed Common Ground Systems (DCGS) and Defense Intelligence Information Environment (DI2E) communities, and USSOCOM. Mr. Sokol has 20 years experience as a technical leader and management consultant in the areas of, IT solution outsourcing, project leadership, solutions architecture, and business process analysis & reengineering.
