AI Talks and Discussion - Defining (machine) Intelligence
Details
Continuing our AI talks...
There are many widely/wildly different definitions of machine intelligence:
"Understanding intelligence and how it may be recreated (and measured) is one of the major scientific challenges of our time. Our research shows that theories of intelligence and the goal of AI have been the source of much confusion both within the field and among the general public."
Dr. Colin W. P. Lewis and Prof. Dr. Dagmar Monett of Artificial General Intelligence Sentinel Initiative (AGISI (http://agisi.org/)) have created a questionnaire (http://agisi.org/Survey_intelligence.html) to survey opinion from the field with the aim of creating a consensus definition to direct future research.
Pete will present some of the various viewpoints then as a group we'll fill in the Oxford AI Meetup's submission.
Opinion in the group is bound to differ widely - so it should make for plenty of discussion!
