What we’re about
We meet to discuss the future of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI or also called human level AI) and how to prevent bad outcomes.
AGI development may cause major disruptions to the job market, democracy and may also pose an extinction threat to humans and carbon based life in general.
So far, with regulation of most technological advancements it was sufficient to focus on reducing the risk of technology getting into the wrong hands. With AGI however, the wrong hands may be the technology itself. And with sufficient capability of the AGI and large scale adoption, humanity may irreversibly hand over control to a population of AI's.
Many well known people such as Stephen Hawking, Alan Turing and Elon Musk have voiced similar concerns (see an example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_letter_on_artificial_intelligence_(2015) ).
