AI & Society UK
AI & Society started in Australia in January 2025 as a grassroots community for people to make sense of artificial intelligence together. What began with 20 people in Brisbane has grown into a national community of 3,000+ members across Australia — and we're now bringing that same conversation to the UK.
Artificial intelligence is transforming how we work, learn and make decisions. Yet most people are not part of the conversation.
AI & Society brings together people from technology and non-technology backgrounds to understand AI and its impact on society. We believe the future of AI should be shaped not only by technologists, but by informed and engaged communities.
Through events and discussions, we create space for people from different disciplines and industries to learn together and exchange perspectives.
AI will increasingly influence our careers, businesses, public policy and daily lives. Understanding AI is becoming an essential civic skill — helping people make better decisions in their work, communities and democratic participation.

AI is global and increasingly centralised — but it is experienced locally. The UK has its own industries, institutions, regulatory conversations and civic culture, and we want AI & Society UK to reflect that — building on what we've learned in Australia while growing genuinely local perspectives here.
