Speakers:
Gosia Evans is a leading, internationally-recognised Intellectual Property lawyer in the UK. Cardiff-based, Gosia works for a national law firm Harper James, advising clients in Wales and across the UK in respect of management, protection and enforcement of their Intellectual Property rights.
Gosia will introduce you to the basics of copyright protection, including the recent Government consultation on AI & copyright. Her talk will also touch upon trade mark protection for business.

Martin Arnold is an Associate and European patent attorney at WP Thompson and based in their Cardiff office. He practices in the physics, electronics, and mechanical technical area and regularly works with start-ups and SMEs to help patent their software, machine learning, and AI innovations.
Martin’s talk will introduce what patents are, how to get them, and how they can be used for software and AI innovations. As well as debunking some common myths about software and patents he will also provide considerations for businesses in the software/AI space

Followed by a Q&A session
