In this talk Data Scientist and NYU Adjunct Professor, Eric Schles, will discuss how data science and technology can be used to improve society for the better. He'll describe his own journey combating human trafficking as an example, digging into deeper themes from this. Various demos will be conducted throughout the talk that showcase technical solutions used to try these social problems. By showing how these solutions generalize, participants may have better tools to solve their own social issues. Eric's presentation will be followed by Q&A.

About The Speaker: Eric Schles is a working Data Scientist and Adjunct Professor at NYU. He specializes in using big data to combat human trafficking. He has worked for the manhattan DA's Human Trafficking Response Unit, serving as Senior Analyst and for the White House under the Obama Administration in the past. He is deeply passionate about solving slavery and using data science and automation to do it.
