Data Science for Social Good - Florida
Details
Join us for a special event where we’ll walk through how Data Science for Social Good – Florida operates. This program has been helping the community and creating data scientists for years!
Dr. Karthik Umapathy and Dr. Dan Richard will provide an overview of the DSSG-FL program - from project selection and intern training to community impact and nonprofit collaboration.
Then, you’ll have the opportunity to meet some of the talented Summer 2026 interns as they present their experiences in partnership with:
Cathedral Arts Project: Understanding the Impacts of Arts Participation on Children of Military Families
Community Foundation: Integrating Philanthropy Hub Data for Community Impact
LISC: Mapping Missed Tax Relief: Expanding Property Tax Exemption Access for Jacksonville Homeowners
Center of Hope: Cultivating Hope in the Community to Support Child Wellbeing
Come learn how data science and social good intersect, meet the people behind the work, and get inspired by how data is shaping a better future for Florida!
All are welcome - students, nonprofits, data scientists, and community leaders. Bring your curiosity and your questions.
Don't miss these awesome data contributions to our local community. At this meetup we will hear about the project process and the Big Reveal of the overall results on August 4th.
