Abstract:
The Internet of Things provides several new smart functionalities and applications that improve our daily lives and industrial processes. TinyML-enabled devices and edge computing can analyse sensor data in real-time, driving intelligent decision-making. In that context, anomaly detection algorithms open a plethora of new applications in Industry 4.0, predictive maintenance, healthcare, and others. The talk will discuss the applications, open challenges, and research directions.

Bio:
Dr Tomasz Szydlo is a senior lecturer at the School of Computing at Newcastle University, UK. He has joined the NUSE group, where he explores the IoT and TinyML research areas. He is co-leading the TinyML Research Theme in the Edge AI Hub. Prior to that, he participated in several EU and national research projects, working on cutting-edge solutions. He also collaborated with the industry, including IBM, Samsung, Asseco, and AVSystem. He was also a visiting researcher at IBM TJ Watson, USA. He is a lead and the main contributor to the FogML set of tools enabling TinyML or microcontrollers.
