Connecting AI, Security, Platform Engineering, DevOps and Modern Operations

Community Collaboration

This session is brought to you through a community collaboration between:

AI Security Engineers Community × Hacker Dreams × X-Ops Conferences

Three communities and ecosystems connected by a common objective: creating spaces where engineers, security practitioners, AI builders, architects and technology leaders can share practical knowledge, challenge existing approaches and build stronger technical communities.

The focus of this Meetup remains simple:

technical knowledge, open discussion and community.

⸻

About the session

Modern technology organizations are becoming increasingly interconnected.

Software engineering, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, data, artificial intelligence, observability, compliance and business operations increasingly depend on the same technology ecosystem — but they are still frequently managed through separate teams, tools, processes and objectives.

That fragmentation creates familiar problems:

  • Organizational silos
  • Duplicated tooling
  • Manual processes
  • Limited cross-team visibility
  • Increasing cognitive load
  • Security controls introduced too late
  • Ambiguous ownership
  • Teams optimizing individual domains instead of the complete technology lifecycle

This session introduces X-Ops as a culture and operating model designed to address those problems.

X-Ops is not about inventing another “Ops” label.

It is about connecting disciplines that already depend on each other through shared principles such as:

collaboration, automation, security, observability, platform thinking and shared responsibility.

⸻

Why this matters for AI & Security Engineering

AI systems do not exist in isolation.

Behind an AI application, agent or model there is usually an entire operational ecosystem involving:

  • infrastructure
  • APIs
  • identities and access control
  • data pipelines
  • CI/CD
  • model delivery
  • cloud platforms
  • secrets
  • software supply chains
  • runtime security
  • telemetry
  • observability
  • governance
  • compliance
  • engineering teams

As organizations adopt AI-assisted development and increasingly autonomous systems, the boundaries between:

AI Engineering + AI Security + Cybersecurity + Platform Engineering + DevOps + MLOps + Cloud + SRE

become increasingly difficult to treat independently.

This creates an important engineering question:

How do we enable AI, security, infrastructure and software engineering teams to operate together without simply creating another collection of silos?

That is where the X-Ops discussion becomes relevant.

⸻

What we’ll explore

What X-Ops actually means

We will examine X-Ops as an organizational and engineering approach rather than simply another technology buzzword.

What problems is it attempting to solve?

Where does it make sense?

And equally important:

Where does it not make sense?

⸻

X-Ops vs DevOps and DevSecOps

DevOps changed how development and operations collaborate.

DevSecOps brought security more deeply into that lifecycle.

But modern organizations now operate across many additional disciplines:

  • Platform Engineering
  • Site Reliability Engineering
  • Cloud Engineering
  • Data Engineering
  • MLOps
  • AIOps
  • AI Engineering
  • AI Security
  • FinOps
  • Compliance
  • Governance
  • Cybersecurity

We’ll explore where X-Ops fits into this evolution and whether connecting these disciplines can create a more coherent operating model.

⸻

Breaking organizational silos

What happens when security, infrastructure, AI, development and operations teams each maintain their own:

  • tools
  • dashboards
  • pipelines
  • policies
  • automation
  • metrics
  • workflows
  • priorities?

More importantly:

How can we improve this without attempting a massive organizational restructuring?

⸻

Platform Engineering and Internal Platforms

We’ll discuss how Internal Developer Platforms, reusable capabilities and golden paths can help teams consume infrastructure, security and operational capabilities without forcing every engineer to understand every implementation detail.

The objective is not to eliminate complexity.

It is to decide where that complexity should live.

⸻

Infrastructure as Code & GitOps

Declarative infrastructure and Git-based operational workflows can create common mechanisms across traditionally separated teams.

We’ll examine how approaches such as Infrastructure as Code and GitOps can help improve:

  • reproducibility
  • traceability
  • automation
  • security
  • governance
  • collaboration

⸻

Security as part of the platform

Security becomes significantly more scalable when controls are integrated into engineering workflows instead of existing only as isolated approval gates.

We’ll look at concepts such as:

  • Policy as Code
  • automated security controls
  • continuous security
  • secure defaults
  • reusable security capabilities
  • automated compliance checks
  • software supply-chain controls

The objective is not to remove security specialists.

It is to make security expertise repeatable and consumable across engineering teams.

⸻

Shared observability

Engineering, security, infrastructure and operations frequently examine the same systems through completely different dashboards and contexts.

We’ll discuss why shared telemetry and observability can become an important component of cross-functional operations.

Logs, metrics, traces, security events and business context become considerably more powerful when teams can correlate them rather than treating them as separate realities.

⸻

Automation beyond scripts

Automation is not simply about writing scripts.

A mature automation strategy should help organizations:

  • reduce repetitive work
  • improve consistency
  • encode organizational knowledge
  • reduce human error
  • create reusable capabilities
  • accelerate engineering workflows

We will also discuss something equally important:

not everything should be automated.

⸻

Introducing X-Ops progressively

You do not need:

  • a massive transformation programme
  • a new organizational chart
  • dozens of new platforms
  • a complete toolchain replacement
  • another acronym-driven initiative

A much more practical approach is:

Identify friction → Standardize → Create reusable capabilities → Automate → Measure → Improve

X-Ops should evolve from real engineering problems rather than being imposed as another organizational methodology.

⸻

Technologies and practices

Throughout the session we will reference technologies and practices commonly found within these environments, including examples such as:

  • Kubernetes
  • Terraform
  • Infrastructure as Code
  • GitOps
  • Argo CD
  • GitHub Actions
  • CI/CD
  • Prometheus
  • Grafana
  • Policy as Code
  • automated security controls
  • Internal Developer Platforms
  • golden paths
  • shared observability
  • security integrated into delivery pipelines

This session is vendor-neutral.

The tools are examples.

The real discussion is about the engineering and operating model behind them.

⸻

Who should attend?

This session is relevant to people working across:

AI Engineering
AI Security
Cybersecurity
Application Security
DevSecOps
DevOps
Platform Engineering
MLOps
AIOps
Cloud Engineering
Site Reliability Engineering
Software Engineering
Architecture
Infrastructure
Technology Leadership

It should also be useful for:

Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, Architects, CTOs, CISOs and technology decision makers trying to understand how increasingly interconnected technical disciplines can work together more effectively.

You do not need previous knowledge of X-Ops.

⸻

What should you take away?

By the end of the session, you should have a clearer understanding of:

  • what X-Ops is
  • what X-Ops is not
  • how it relates to DevOps and DevSecOps
  • why AI and security increase the need for cross-functional operations
  • where Platform Engineering fits
  • how automation and shared platforms can reduce operational complexity
  • the risks and limitations of the model
  • practical first steps that can be introduced inside an organization

Most importantly, the objective is to leave with ideas you can challenge, adapt and potentially apply within your own environment.

⸻

Community discussion

This is not intended to be a one-way presentation.

One of the interesting aspects of X-Ops is that there is no universal operating model that works for every organization.

After the main session, we want to open the discussion.

How does your organization connect AI, security, infrastructure and software engineering today?

What works?

What creates friction?

Where are the silos?

Which responsibilities are unclear?

What have you successfully automated?

What should never have been automated?

Which tools genuinely improve collaboration?

Which ones simply created another silo?

The experience in the room is part of the session.

If you work in a different technical discipline, bring that perspective.

Even better:

bring a colleague from another discipline.

⸻

Beyond this Meetup

This Meetup is first and foremost about:

learning, exchanging experience and connecting engineers.

There is no requirement to participate in anything beyond this session.

However, people interested in continuing these conversations will have opportunities to do so across the activities organized by the participating communities.

For those interested specifically in the broader relationship between:

AI + Security + DevSecOps + Platform Engineering + Cloud + MLOps + AIOps + SRE + modern operations

the conversation will also continue later this year at X-Ops Dubai 2026.

More information:

https://dubai.xopsconference.com

The idea is not to replace the Meetup experience with a conference.

Quite the opposite.

Smaller community sessions are where many of the best conversations begin.

Larger events then provide an opportunity to reconnect with those people, meet additional practitioners and explore a much wider set of disciplines.

⸻

Help build the community

A technical community becomes valuable because of the people who participate in it.

You can help by:

  • joining the discussion
  • bringing real engineering problems
  • sharing lessons learned
  • challenging assumptions
  • proposing future talks
  • introducing topics the community should explore
  • bringing someone from another technical discipline
  • connecting people who should know each other

If you know someone working in:

AI, cybersecurity, DevSecOps, cloud, platform engineering, MLOps, SRE or software engineering, share the Meetup with them.

The objective is not simply to grow attendance.

It is to create cross-disciplinary conversations that normally do not happen inside the same room.

⸻

Join us

If you are building, securing, deploying, operating or scaling modern technology systems, this conversation probably affects you already — whether your organization calls it X-Ops or not.

RSVP and join the discussion.

AI, Security, Development, Cloud, Data and Operations already interact.

The real question is:

Are we designing our organizations so that interaction actually works?
