ABSTRACT:
“Metaverse” is a term used to describe a computer- generated virtual world “beyond” our physical world where individuals live, work, shop and play together.
Today, we are seeing advertisements on TV & Streaming-Services of individuals using 3D Virtual-Reality Headsets playing games, walking through fantastic colorful worlds, collaborating with others, and generally having a “exciting fun filled” time.
A variety of companies are selling goods, services, performances and virtual real-estate in their Metaverses.
- What are the technical foundations that make the Metaverse possible today?
- What is the reality of the Metaverse?
- Where is the Metaverse going in the future?
In tonight’s talk, Dr. Larry Dribin takes us on a journey to explore the Metaverse.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Dr. Larry Dribin is a consultant and educator who enjoys assisting clients understand and make use of technology to solve business problems. He has helped clients in a wide variety of industries successfully implement new technologies, turn around failing projects and implement government regulations.
Larry’s company, Pearl Street Group (PSG), provides process improvement, measurement, and program/project management services. Larry uses best practice such as Six Sigma, CMMI, ITIL, PMBOK and FDA’s cGMP to tailor solutions to fit client needs. He incorporates change management techniques to speed the process and make the changes more enduring.
Larry is also an adjunct instructor In DePaul University’s College of Computers & Digital Media (CDM) where he has been teaching courses in Software Engineering & Cloud Computing. Larry holds a Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, an MBA in Marketing, and a BS in Industrial Engineering.

We will be meeting in-person.
