How to detect AI Deepfakes
Details
Our next AITP Lehigh Valley regional meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, virtually via Zoom.
This presentation is open for members and non-members, faculty, staff, and students.
ABSTRACT:
How to detect AI Deepfakes
As generative AI accelerates, deepfakes have evolved from novelty curiosities into a serious security and trust threat for organizations. Modern models can synthesize highly convincing video, audio, and images—making it increasingly difficult to distinguish legitimate communications from manipulated content. For IT teams responsible for safeguarding identity, infrastructure, and information integrity, understanding how deepfakes work is no longer optional.
This session breaks down the technical foundations of deepfake generation and the detection methods available today. We’ll examine model architectures, common manipulation pipelines, and the artifacts they leave behind. Attendees will learn how to identify deepfakes using signal‑level analysis, compression pattern inconsistencies, biometric irregularities, and audio‑visual synchronization checks. We’ll also explore emerging detection tools, metadata‑based verification, and how to integrate deepfake‑resilience into existing security workflows.
By the end of the session, IT professionals will be equipped with practical strategies to evaluate suspicious media, support incident response, and help their organizations stay ahead of rapidly evolving synthetic‑media threats.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Floyd Bishop is a veteran technical animator and rigging specialist with over 20 years of experience in games, film, and interactive media. Currently at Microsoft, he builds scalable animation systems and production workflows that bridge art and engineering. His work includes leading animation teams, developing high‑efficiency pipelines, and creating educational content viewed more than 20 million times. Floyd has presented internationally, including at GDC Europe, and his animated short Opposites Jamboree was featured at the Ottawa International Animation Festival. He’s known for making complex technical concepts clear, practical, and immediately useful for creative teams.
