Formal ALUG Meeting

For our August 1 meeting, Lauren Egts will present "Teaching your kids how to program using Scratch on Raspberry Pi":

Children can have a hard time getting into programming because of the fear that they might break the family PC, or current programming environments are too complex to understand the basics. The Raspberry Pi, a $35 computer, is the perfect tool to get kids into programming because the default operating system comes with the social and visual programming environment Scratch.

Scratch is a simple and fun way to teach your kids the fundamentals of programming, and the Raspberry Pi allows them to do it fearlessly on their very own computer. In this talk, Lauren Egts will discuss what a Raspberry Pi is, Scratch, and demonstrate some of her own work in Scratch.
