What we’re about
We meet in a peaceful and inspiring environment where everyone can learn about meditation and Buddhism. The meditation and Buddhist practices that are taught have been carefully adapted so that they are suitable for everyone to easily incorporate into their modern lifestyles. Whether you are looking for meditation for relaxation or if you are seeking to find pure happiness and lasting inner peace, there are an abundance of classes you may attend. We offer day and evening classes, retreats, special full day courses and weekend courses. We also provide evening classes in Okotoks.
Akshobya Kadampa Buddhist Centre is located in Calgary, Alberta and is a member of the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union. We are one of over a thousand centres worldwide founded by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. We create a warm and welcoming environment for everyone to come and learn, seek truth and ask questions to improve their lives and spiritual practices. More information can be found on our website: www.meditateincalgary.org. We look forward to meeting you!

Inner Reflection
Akshobya Kadampa Buddhist Centre , #105, 2120 Kensington Road NW, Calgary, AB, CAWe all have someone whom we regard as especially precious, such as our child, our partner, or our mother. This person seems to be imbued with unique qualities that make him or her stand out from others. We treasure and want to take special care of this person. We need to learn to regard all living beings in a similar way, recognizing each and every one as special and uniquely valuable. Although we already cherish our family and close friends, we do not love strangers, and we certainly do not love our enemies. For us the vast majority of living beings are of no particular significance. We can remove this bias and come to treasure each and every living being, just as a mother regards her dearest child. The more we can deepen and enhance our love in this way, the stronger our compassion and bodhichitta will become, and the quicker we will attain enlightenment.
In this series, we will learn how to deepen our love for others and gain experience through meditation.
