Amitayus Retreat: Long Life
Akshobya Kadampa Buddhist Centre, #105, 2120 Kensington Road NW, Calgary, AB, CAThere is nothing more precious to us than our life. If we have a long life we can complete our spiritual path in this very life. These special prayers to Buddha Amitayus increase our long life, merit & wisdom. We can engage in them on our own behalf, or on behalf of others who are sick or in danger of dying. This is a traditional retreat offered each year early in the New Year.
The greatest obstacles to the fulfilment of our wish to experience pure happiness are death and ignorance. Death destroys our opportunity to take the essence of our precious human life, and ignorance destroys our opportunity to develop a pure experience of Dharma. To overcome these obstacles, we need to increase our lifespan and our wisdom, and the principal method for doing this is the yoga of Buddha Amitayus, which is also a special method for increasing the positive power of our mind, or merit.Enjoy – everybody is welcome!
An opportunity to engage in three sessions of this beautiful traditional practice with beautiful guided meditations.
