What we’re about
Dragon boat racing is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. Originating in China some 2,000 years ago, it is popular throughout Asia, the Pacific Islands, Europe and the United States. Crews consist of 20 paddlers, a drummer and a steerer. The Alameda Dragon Flyers Dragon Boat Racing Club runs practices at least 3 times a week.
We participate in local and West Coast races from April through October each year, and have an active social calendar for paddlers. Novice, recreational and competitive paddlers 18 years and older are invited to to attend 3 introductory sessions before joining.
Currently, we're opening up our regular practices to accommodate a few visitors at a time. Equipment and instruction are provided. Follow this link to enter your information, and you'll be invited to one of our upcoming practices: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe9-poqL_80ANc7OvJVl2QD9xcvO6QbdrX3EYmojxKnyiUXmQ/viewform?usp=sf_link
