Let's see if we can catch some of this good rain in the Guad. Kendall County has a new park with an access point that makes for a nice trip to the Bergheim crossing and Bergheim campground as it cuts about 2 miles from the 474 crossing on this stretch. Let's check out the new Kreutzberg Canyon Natural Area for the first time. We will put in there and float approximately 12 miles down to Bergheim Campground. Everyone meet at Kreutzberg at 9:00 am to drop boats. At least one person needs to stay with them, we will all drive to Bergheim Campground at the crossing to drop cars. It will be $10 to launch your boat from the campground. We will see if Bergheim could do a driver shuttle for us. If not we will do our own. You will pay your own park and campground entry fee. Bring cash and ones. Stay tuned for more detail on the put in and take out, but this is the plan. SUOTW!

GENERAL:
This will be a paddle with put-in at Kreutzberg Natrual Area and take out at Bergheim Campground.

We'll find some spots to stop and swim and cool off - and imbibe cooling refreshments. Floating thru rapids with PFD's on can be fun where it is safe too. Plan on lunch on the water.

We will shuttle our own cars but might get a driver's shuttle from the campground, at cost per person. If not, at the end of the trip we will have to take the return shuttle drivers back to their cars - so will need some volunteers for that. If we can take their boats doubled up too, that will certainly help.

REQUIREMENTS AND NOTICES
You must be a confident swimmer. Rivers contain hazards that can result in injury or worse. Have demonstrated ability to control your boat in swift or whitewater, experience recommended. Know your ability. You are solely responsible for your own safety on and off the water. Safely traveling to and from the event and on shuttles is solely your own responsibility. The club is not responsible for theft or damage to vehicles at put-ins or take outs.

ITEMS TO BRING ON THE TRIP/RIVER:
PFDs - Class 3 - required to be in every boat to be on the float - one per person. ALL children 13 and under must have PFD's on at all times.
Others it is highly recommended for all hazards. You are responsible for your own safety judgements and COVID safety. You will have to sign a release form.

Bring water. Adult or other beverages in a cooler. NO GLASS ITEMS EVER!! Snacks/lunch as we will be stopping on the river to swim and cool off. Sunblock, hat, sunglasses on retainers. Have a personal first aid pack.

At least one "painter" rope on your boat, so you can tie your boat to the shore if needed. Bailers, pumps and sponges if it rains on us.

Ankle strap sandals are best footwear. No flip flops and un-strapped sandals; they easily fall off. No bare feet.

That's it. Check in later for more details. Prost! SYOTW. 'Nuff said.
