Winner's Creek Hike

Join our friendly Alaska Meetup group for a breathtaking hike on the Winner Creek Trail in Girdwood, surrounded by lush forests and stunning Chugach Mountain views! This 5-mile round-trip trail is moderately easy with gentle elevation, perfect for casual hikers and nature lovers. Expect vibrant wildflowers, potential moose sightings, and the serene beauty of Girdwood’s wilderness. The hike takes about 2.5-3 hours for the entire round-trip at a leisurely pace.

• When: Saturday, July 5, 2025, hike starts at 11:00 AM, expect to wrap up by 2:30-3:00 PM.
• Where: Meet at the Winner Creek Trailhead (near Alyeska Resort, 5K Nordic Loop Trailhead). For Anchorage folks, we’re carpooling from the Carr’s on Huffman (1501 E Huffman Rd, Anchorage, southeast corner of the parking lot) at 10:00 AM. The drive to Girdwood is about 45 minutes.
• What to Bring: Water, snacks, sturdy hiking shoes, layers for variable weather (rain jacket recommended), and bug spray for summer mosquitoes. Trekking poles are optional for uneven sections.
• Post-Hike: Optional hangout at a nearby Girdwood spot (like Sitzmark Bar & Grill) for drinks and bites. Details to be confirmed based on group interest—bring cash or card for your share.
