"Lead Vocals and Harmonica
Mike Castella:
Mike started singing at a very young age. Basically doing live performances in his bedroom mostly every day while listening to all of his older brothers albums. I was heavily influenced by all classic rock bands including Aerosmith. Been involved with cover bands for multiple decades and always loved covering Steven Tyler. Decided to audition for the Aerosmith Tribute Band Pump earlier this spring and was fortunate to be asked to be a member of the band. We’ve done several shows since then and can’t wait to kick off a great 2024. We look forward to seeing everyone at our show's.. Be ready to hear one of the best Aerosmith tribute bands out there. Peace!!
Drummer
Rich Savarese:
In 1976 I first heard "Walk This Way" on AM radio as Fm was just catching on, in my parent's 1972 Chevy Imapala. Amongst all the Disco and pop being played, the drumbeat intro that lead into a cool guitar lick, followed by some unique vocals was a breathe of something much different than the usual dance hits being played. My older brother eventually bought "Toys in the Attic" along with Rocks, which was just released. Between Aerosmith, and Led Zeppelin, my brother and his friends whom he let me hang out with noticed me always tapping and air drumming to the rock and roll of they would play me. So of course started into drumming to "Walk this Way, Adam's Apple, Uncle Salty andSweet Emotion ". The Title track was a little harder with some off beat cymbal work that I had to figure out and did. Then "Rocks" blew me away. Heavier, and harder with a gritty attitude. "Back in the Saddle, Last Child, Get the Lead Out, Lick and Promise, and Nobody's Fault ", all awesome. I then went back to "Get Your Wings" and the self-titled freshman album, with "Mama Kin, Walk the Dog, and the other hit Dream On" being played on the new, cool FM stations. I was officially an Aerosmith fan. Despite their ups and downs in the late 70s into the 80s, was lucky enough to see "The Joe Perry Project " twice, and eventually Aerosmith back together on the "Permanent Vacation" tour.
All along I respected all of Joey Kramer's grooves and straight forward beats with odd time accents. Always giving the song what it needs without overstating it. A true master of being himself and not competing with any of his contemporaries. As I as a drummer who was schooled on playing the likes of Rush, The Who, Led Zep, Jeff Beck and many others, it's a pleasure paying tribute to Joey and the music of Aerosmith with PUMP. We try to recreate the magic and celebrate the great catalog of music they have amassed.
