The Albemarle Writers Critique (AWC) will bring together writers to critique submitted works of fiction including short stories, parts of novels and novellas, and screenplays (but not poetry).
Submissions of up to 2,000 words will be accepted, 1.5 spacing. Indicate the number of words on the manuscript's first page along with the name of the author. Also include line numbers. Meetings will review up to three manuscripts. Submissions must be emailed by the Wednesday prior to the meeting so there is time to distribute and review.
Critiques will be delivered in person at the meeting. We encourage you to make notes on the manuscript and give them to the author following the delvery of comments. Comments can be made on a hardcopy or on an electronic copy. Depenidng on the number of participants, the length of the critiques deliverd at the meeting may be time limited.
Critique guidelines will be distributed to attendees. Most importantly, be kind.
