BRW Monday Evening Critique Group

Blue Ridge Writers brings together writers to critique submitted works of fiction including short stories, parts of novels and novellas, and screenplays (but not poetry).

You must be a paid member of BRW to participate. You can pay via Meetup. See below.

Meetings are in person at Northside Library of the JMRL in Charlottesville. In the event of inclement weather, the meeting might be held virtually. An announcement will be sent out if this change occurs.

We will anticipate monthly meetings depending on interest and available space.

Submission requirements

• Up to 10 pages.
• 12 point font
• Double spaced.
• A cover page should include the name of the author as well as the feedback you are seeking from the critique.

All manuscripts submitted by attendees are due at least 10 days before the meeting. All the manuscripts of the attendees will be critiqued.

The meeting is limited to first 5 people who RSVP. A wait list will be created for people above the 5.

The cost to attend for the remainder of 2026 is $26 which includes BRW annual dues of $25 for the rest of 2026 and a $1 transaction fee will be added to electronic transactions. In addition, Meetup will add a transaction fee of about $2.22. The event fee is a one-time charge for attending this critique group and is good for future meetings in 2026. Annual memberships are charged in January. Existing paid BRW members should contact Ted R to be exempted from being charged for this group.

Attendance policy:
Only RSVP if you fully expect to attend. If something comes up please withdraw by 5pm the Friday before the meeting. You can do this by changing your RSVP. Contact Ted R for special circumstances.
