The hangout
Each hangout centers around one genre, artist or theme. Everyone brings one album, physical or digital, and the story behind why it matters to them. Music becomes the starting point for conversation: personal memories, cultural context, emotions, and associations. Listening is important, but the real connection happens in what the music opens up between people.
The host
The evening is hosted by Hugo Out, DJ, radio host on Operator Radio and music curato , who guides the flow and sets the tone, while keeping the space open, social, and approachable. No experts, no hierarchy. Just shared obsessions and genuine exchange.
Location
Album Affairs takes place in cafés, listening bars, or record stores across Rotterdam, intimate settings chosen for their love of sound, culture, and conversation.
Groupsize
To keep the atmosphere personal, each session is limited to 20–30 people.
The Why
Album Affairs is founded by Julie and Matthijs as part of Shared Obsessions, a social collective creating offline spaces where people connect through what they care about most. Because music is a shared language, and some conversations only start when you listen together.
