Welcome Gen-Xers!!
If you are single and in the Gen-X age range (born from about 1965 to about 1980) and want to meet new people and hangout in a casual environment, then this group is for you!
Please note, we understand that it is hard to come solo to an event where you don’t know anyone! We have been there! Promise! We are a kind, welcoming, and will always let you know where to find us. It can be a big step, but please know it will be fun!!
This group is inclusive, reciprocal, and welcoming of any gender, sexual orientation, religion, etc.; all are welcome in this group. However, we will not tolerate bigotry, harassment, or other non-social or non-professional behavior by any member.
This is not a secret society! A clear (somewhat up-to-date) profile photo and a name that you want to be addressed by is necessary to join and remain in our group. The profile photo is necessary when you are new to the group and we do not know what you like. It is a real bummer when a new attendee arrives at an event, leaves because they can't find us, and we don't know enough about you to wave you over to join the group. Just saying.
Event Policy
Event Hosts organize and plan for events that they hope others will also enjoy. We are not paid and we do not seek financial compensation. As mentioned above, this is a reciprocal social club. We hope you attend the events scheduled, but we also hope you will suggest an event and work with an organizer to make the event a reality, or offer to organize and plan an event on your own that you thank others may be interested in attending.
Attendance Policy
Please check in with the event Host on your attendance plans. If you are not able to attend the event, please change your RSVP to "Not Going". If something else comes up (life happens!), please leave a comment or send a message that you are not able to attend; otherwise you will be tagged as a "No Show". We (organizers and event attendees) care about you and will worry if we don't hear from you. Just saying.
Once a group member gets tag three times with a "No Show" they will be removed from the group. If a member does not visit the Gen-X page (the one you're viewing at the moment) to check on current or future events within the past three calendar months they will be removed from the group.

Celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary as you imagine what life was like in New Mexico in 1776, the year the Declaration of Independence was written. State Historian of New Mexico Rob Martínez will take you there, using the Domínguez Report of 1776 to explore what New Mexico’s peoples, places, foods, natural resources, and cultures were like in this most significant year of our nation’s history.
Tickets are $7 for students and seniors, $10 for the general public.

- The lecture begins promptly at 6:00 p.m. To ensure the best experience for both our speaker and guests, late entry is not permitted.
- Please note that the museum closes at 5:00 p.m., and lecture admission does not include access to museum exhibits.
- Guests purchasing member-rate tickets will be asked to provide proof of current museum membership upon arrival.
- Refunds are not available once the event has begun.

About the Speaker: State Historian Rob Martínez is a native New Mexican born and raised in Albuquerque. He earned a. B.A. in International Business Management and an M.A. in Latin American history, both from UNM. Mr. Martínez worked for fourteen years as a research historian for the Sephardic Legacy Project, scouring civil and church archives in New Mexico, Mexico, Spain, France, Italy, Cuba, and Puerto Rico, analyzing documents for a research and publishing project about the Crypto-Jewish phenomenon in New Mexico and the Caribbean. He taught history for ten years at Rio Rancho High School, became Deputy State Historian in 2012, and in 2019, Mr. Martínez became New Mexico State Historian.
