About the Talk: OLAP stands for "Online Analytical Processing." It's a term that was first used in the early 1990s and it is more relevant than ever today. Much of what modern data engineers and data scientists do fall into the realm of OLAP. In this presentation, Shirzad will cover basic concepts related to OLAP, differences between relational and star schema structures, as well as heap database designs.

About Shirzad Sharif: For over 25 years Shirzad has consulted and directed software projects of varying scale and content both nationally and internationally at over 30 of the top fortune 100 companies worldwide including Shell Energy Solutions, Hewlett-Packard, Symantec, Boeing, Wells Fargo, Chevron, Honeywell, CSFB, Boyd Gaming, Wynn Resorts, The Blackstone Group, Franklin Templeton, Shearman & Sterling, Midway Games, Creative Labs, British American Tobacco (BAT), 20th Century Fox, and Accenture.

While not programming he loves to play Persian Classical music and is also an old school gamer.
