We have reached maximum capacity for this project - if you weren't able to sign up while the event was open for RSVPs, we hope you'll join us for another project later in the year. Thanks!

• What we'll do
AWF will kick off our 2026 ecological restoration volunteer project season with a local day project at the Valle de Oro Wildlife Refuge in the South Valley of Albuquerque. We will be partnering with Rio Grande Return and others.

During this year’s project, volunteers will be planting native vegetation in the playa section of the refuge, as well as building nesting boxes for kestrels and barn owls.

• What to bring
GEAR: For this project, you will need gloves, hat, long sleeves, long pants, sturdy boots, and sunscreen. Bring layers as the day may start off cool and warm up towards lunch.

FOOD: Please bring snacks, your own lunch, and plenty of water.

• Important to know
PLEASE RSVP VIA EMAIL to cameron@riograndereturn.org and please include a phone number or email contact information so we can update you if anything changes (e.g., weather cancellation). When you RSVP, we will send you directions to our meeting spot and more information about the project.

Directions to the site and further details about the project will be sent to you once you sign up.
