Details
Ready to finally try zazen—or refresh and revitalize a current practice—in a supportive, informative space? Join us this Saturday for free, beginner-friendly instruction in the quiet beauty of Montgomery Park (just north of Comanche, west of San Pedro).
You’ll learn:
- How to best understand these three important terms: Zen, Practice, and Zazen
- How to set up a stable, comfortable posture
- The basics of breath awareness and quiet observation
- Simple ways to bring a regular Zen practice into daily life
Whether you’re brand new or just need a tune-up, this class will help you find your seat, settle your mind, and experience the calm clarity of a seated Zen practice.
What to bring:
- A blanket you can fold into a 3’ x 3’ square
- A small, firm cushion or two for sitting support. Ideally, you will need a way to lift your tush 3 or 4" off the ground. A sofa pillow placed on a thick, hardcover book works very well.
Free. Open to all. Just bring your curiosity—and your blanket and cushion—and meet us in the park! Be sure to wear loose, comfortable clothes.
Note: If sitting cross-legged on the ground poses a problem, a portable chair will also work.
