Schunemunk Skyline Loop

We'll slink into the wild beauty of Schunemunk State Park with a startling mile per view ratio: 1 to 4! Yes, there are 32 viewpoints along this 7.8-mile loop that showcases some of the greatest Hudson Highlands hits. We will proceed counterclockwise, starting on the blue trail highlighted in the map image, rapidly ascending the Trestle trail to the Western Ridge where we’ll see surrounding valleys, the distant Hudson River, and rolling farmlands. Once crossing the col we will ascend to the Jessup trail, enjoy a quick lunch at the Megaliths and then we'll traverse the glacially-carved conglomerate rock dotted with pitch pines and dramatic boulder formations, before descending the Otterkill Trail down to our point of origin.

This hike will all be at a more chilled pace than usual: (2 MPH)
