Bristoe Station Battlefield Heritage Park + Yankey Farm Berry Pick

Details

Let's go for a hike at Bristoe Station Battlefield Heritage Park!

After the hike, you can pick your own strawberries at Yankey Farm!

What we'll do:

  • From the parking area we'll follow the 1861-2 Trail to trace the events of the Battle of Kettle Run, August 27, 1862. After our return to the parking lot, we'll follow the 1863 Trail to trace the events of the Battle of Bristoe Station, October 14, 1863.
  • The historic part of the hike is two modified loops, each around a mile and a half, for a total of 3 miles. The surface is dirt trails with gentle hills; a downhill slope to the southeast. At a moderate pace, with time to check out the markers and scenery, we should be done in a little over an hour.
  • Since the historic trails are so short, we'll do a third leg from the parking area along Bristow Station Drive, around the small neighborhood duck pond and back to the parking area. The third leg adds almost another 2 miles, along sidewalks and paved paths, and will take an additional 45 minutes to an hour.
