Hermetic 101: Elements & Energy Workshop

The Southern Temple of Mother Isis presents a 2-hour Hermetic workshop at Temperance Society Bar in Summer Hill.

This ancient system offers tools for understanding the elemental forces that shape our reality. Many experience that persistent feeling that something more substantial lies beyond ordinary perception.

Hermetics addresses this directly. The Hermetic Principles offer a practical framework for understanding the external and internal elements that constitute our existence.
The Hermetica (more known as the Hermetic sciences in the modern day) represents a body of lore that investigates and interacts with those mystical things associated with the great God Hermes, the ancient Greek counterpart of the Egyptian God Thoth.

Thoth-Hermes, the syncretized God of the Graeco-Egyptian magical world, was the creator and teacher of all languages, as well as the God of knowledge, alchemy, magic, divination, mathematics, science, and a psychopomp, meaning that, just like Hecate, he could travel between the underworld, physical world, and the celestial realms. He is the great Messenger of the Gods, and for this reason, it’s evident why he’s a very important God in magic- for he allows us to communicate with spirits and gods, and additionally allows them to communicate with us. The words of a spell have power because words are a part of language, which is his creation. When we utter the words of any spell or conjuration, the power within them represents the mystery of the principle of Thoth - of Hermetics.

Understanding Hermetics is vital and necessary to understand and perform any type of magic. It is the secret science that underlies all the magical and alchemical arts. This lecture and workshop will be divided into three parts.

Part 1 provides a brief historical overview of the hermetic sciences and how they have changed over time.

Part 2 will provide an overview of why the Hermetica is a necessary keystone to understanding the practice of magic. Here we will also briefly discuss some of the true and powerful hermetic texts that exist; as well as some New Age texts that something people believe are Hermetic texts when in fact, they are not.

Part 3 will shift to a more practical workshop approach, where you will be taught 2 basic, but very powerful Hermetic exercises- the invocation of the light; and the preparation of the magical temple. This, as well as other workshops in this series, are brought to you by initiates of the Alexandrian tradition; and in honor of our tradition and our Gods, we offer these at very low or NIL cost to members of the public, to demonstrate that the art of magic (and witchcraft) are sacred gifts from the gods- and are freely given to true seekers with love and integrity- these teachings are never denigrated as a sale item in the Alexandrian (and Gardnerian) lineaged initiatory traditions.
