Have you been to Chinatown to eat before? What are your thoughts of Chinatown? If you've been, which restaurants have you been to and what are your favorite dishes?

Of course. I've been to at least 8-10 of the restaurants, but can't recall all of their names...mostly chinese and vietnamese. love trying new things: the dumplings with broth inside were especially fun, but not the most flavorful dish.

Is there a particular restaurant that you've been wanting to try in Chinatown but never have? Generally, what are your favorite foods?

shiao lan kung (sp?) and ting wong. i've heard from friends they're great, but haven't had chance to try. my favorite foods are tomatoes, cheese, and greens, but my biggest love is variety and trying new things.

As we are looking for the adventurous and those willing to try anything once tell us what is the strangest thing you've ever ate.

hmmmm. hard to recall. cactus? raw sea urchin? cod tongues? veal cheeks? i've eaten these, but are there really that strange? i don't think so. i will try just about anything once...except waste...not big on offal, etc.

Would you consider yourself a lover of Asian food? If so, what country's cuisine do you love the most and why?

yes. they're all pretty different, so it depends on my mood. like them ALL, but thai would be my most favorite. unfortunately, i haven't found good thai in philly (yet)!

What's the main reason you wish to join this group and what would you like to gain from this group that will make your time worth while?

i'd like to experience asian food w/ people who are just as interested in food as i am and w/ someone who can translate questions/comments about the food and perhaps get us some special, unusual dishes. would like to do it every 4-8 weeks.

Hi, Alex: I enjoy learning about and trying different cuisines of all kinds. Want to learn more about different Asian cuisines and to do so with someone able to communicate in the relevant language would be excellent!

What ann is saying about this Meetup Group

Have only been to two so far, but Alex has been a thoughtful, but laid back leader. And, boy, does the man like to eat or what!
