Rat Lake is located in the Severn River Conservation Reserve, a 9927 hectare area of Crown land, located within the District Municipality of Muskoka near Gravenhurst.
It has a surface area of 46 ha, a depth of 17 m., and a shoreline 70% crown land. There are no cottages on the lake. Fish: Walleye, Largemouth bass, and Yellow perch.

This trip was requested by Martin, and he will lead us in. This is our first, exploratory, trip to this lake.
This should be an easy trip, good for first time campers:
- Paddle 5 km. on the Severn River from Morrison Landing Government Dock to Weirs Bay.
- Portage 200 m. to Weirs Marsh.
- Paddle 1 km. across Weirs Marsh.
- Portage 200 m. to Rat Lake.
There is free parking at Morrison Landing, the portages are wide and flat, and there is a good campsite on the north side of Rat Lake. We may have to cut a campsite in the bush if the campsite is occupied.
This is bug season.
We may stay a second night if it is good, or leave early.
