CANOE TRIP 4/25, LONE TREE LAKE SAT JUL 19 TO MON JUL 21

Details

The dates for this trip are flexible. You can go in on Friday or return on Sunday if you wish.

This trip is always one of the best trips of the season for experienced canoe trippers.

Lone Tree Lake has a tall, solitary, white pine tree on a tiny rocky island, in the middle of the lake. The water is clear, deep and cool, the shores mostly steep and rocky. There is a narrow sandy beach for 50 metres at the north campsite which is great for swimming and sunning. Lone Tree Lake is 1.4 km. long, and 250 m. wide. There are no cottages on the Lake, and no power boats. Last year, we caught enough large Bass to feed the whole camp.

The north campsite is high, flat open rock, with a fire pit, steel grate, fish filleting table, and thunder box. There is a good supply of fire wood. We can hear the sound of falling water all night from a small stream from Seesee Lake.

Last year we occupied three campsites on the lake. All of the campsites were well reviewed.

Lone Tree Lake is located in the Magnetawan River Provincial Park; a non-operating park. There are no camping fees.

Paddle Distance 10 km. We will paddle in through Naiscoot Lake. This is a flatwater trip; no rapids, but expect to pass a few power boats going in, and coming out, and there are cottages on Naiscoot Lake.
Portages: Naiscoot L. to Evans L. 500 metres, wide and gentle rise, mud
at the north put in.
2 portages Evans L. to Lone Tree Lake, 100 metres and 20
metres.

There is no cell service once we leave the Hwy. 69 area.

Parking is off Hwy 69, free.

Distance from Hwy 7 and Hwy 400: 250 km., 2 hours, 20 mins.

We will meet at the put in at 12:00 PM. Sat. and find a campsite by 4:00 PM.
On Sun. we will fish, swim, and explore the area.
On Mon. we should break camp and reach the cars by 4:00 PM.
