This is an easy trip to see brilliant Fall colours in the southern part of our canoe area where we can expect warmer weather.
Spider Lake is in The Massassauga Provincial Park. Our campsite and parking spaces are guaranteed, but we are limited to nine people, and the cost for the weekend is $10 plus parking.
As of 4:00 PM., Sept. 25, nearby campsites are available if we need them. Cost for two nights, total $100.
Our campsite, number 13, is sheltered from the north and west wind in a mature forest. It has a table, fire pit, thunder box, and sandy beach. The surrounding shoreline is dry and solid.
Spider Lake is broken into many bays. It is inland, and protected from the winds off Georgian Bay. There are no cottages or power boats.
This will be a great place to spend Thanksgiving Weekend.
One portage: 370 m., gentle rise 10 m. in the center.
Paddle distance, total: 6.5 km.
Driving distance from Hwy 400 & Hwy 7: 202 km., 2 hours.
