This is an adventure into Lone Tree Lake.
It was reported that the pond leading into Lone Tree Lake is very shallow and muddy this year and not passable as usual. The plan is to paddle to a campsite on Evans lake or close to the shallow pond and camp there Friday night. Saturday morning we will try to find a way through or around the pond then spend the day and camp on Lone Tree Saturday night. The return trip on Sunday should be easier once we find a way in.
This trip will be an adventure and likely somewhat challenging as there are unknowns. Be prepared for shallow water, mud, and maybe some bushwhacking. I have never been to Lone Tree Lake myself but I hear the effort will be worth it.
I will be arriving at the put in late Friday afternoon, so if anyone wants to get an early start, feel free to arrive earlier. Depending how hard it is to get through, and when people arrive, we may be able to get to Lone Tree Lake on Friday (or at least some of the group). I will update closer to the day with my expected arrival time.
The put in is on Blue Heron Trail at Naiscoot Lake Public Boat Launch.
~8km paddle to the first portage (450m) then a short paddle across Evans lake to the second portage (50m) then we will run into the shallow pond before reaching Lone Tree Lake.
Sign up and coordinate in the chat, I will also start a group chat once we have a few interested. This will be a fun adventure to a beautiful lake if you are up for some challenges and unknowns.
You will need a way to get there, a canoe, kayak, paddle board, a partner with a canoe, something of that sort. A paddle might be good to bring along.
You are responsible for yourself and your own safety.
See you out there!
Thank you James. I suggest you also take rubber boots, axes, saws, rope, and red flagging tape.
Take lots of pictures of the new trail, and the new shoreline of the campsites on Lone Tree Lake.
