ONLINE - Friday Night Boardgame Meetup

This is a FREE event.

Let's take advantage of this month's extra Friday and get together for some online gaming! We'll play for several hours using Board Game Arena and other free sites.

We'll have access to a wide variety of games such as simple ones (like Yahtzee and Can't Stop) and party ones (like Codenames and Just One) all the way up to very complex ones (like Russian Railroads, Teotihuacan, and Tzolk'in).

For this event, the games we'll play will be chosen based on the quantity and experience levels of the meetup attendees. In the future, some game choices may be announced in advance - so that you can watch learning videos (appropriate links will be provided) and practice them before the event.

You'll need six things to join and play in this event:

1. A computer with internet access
2. Experience with your web browser (Chrome, Safari, etc.)
3. The ability to go to a website when given the address/URL
4. A FREE Board Game Arena account already activated
5. Experience with playing at least two games on Board Game Arena in the past
6. A willingness to have fun and play games with a lively group

A Discord link (https://discord.com/) will be provided, at the beginning of the gaming session, so that we can all chat and laugh together while we play. You should have a microphone and speakers/headphones to participate in this. A camera is nice, but not required.

Follow these instructions to get a FREE account on Board Game Arena:

1. Use your web browser to visit https://boardgamearena.com/
2. Press the big, blue "Start Playing Now" button
3. Create an account (basic is fine) and get an ID
4. Participate in the guided practice game(s)

Once you have an ID, you may RSVP to attend this event. You should also browse to this link and request membership to our online group (although this will be handled for you, if you forget): https://boardgamearena.com/group?id=11889586.

RSVPs without a valid Board Game Arena ID will be removed until you reapply with the necessary ID.

At the event's starting time, go to https://boardgamearena.com/ and you will see a group chat with messages about how to join the Discord session and play with the group. We'll endeavor to start on time. It's okay if you need to arrive late; but if you do so, you may have to wait a while (for the next game to start).

Please feel free to eat, drink, or smoke whatever you like while we play. However, you should mute yourself if you can't do so quietly.

If you RSVP for this event and don't show up at all, you will be marked as a No-Show. This may cause problems for you when attempting to RSVP for future group events.
