What we’re about
Are you a Brisbane lesbian or bi woman wishing to make new friends, meet that special someone, or just attend lesbian events? Then this might be the group for you!
This group and our events are specifically for queer women to come together and meet others and make connections. The events are usually restricted in numbers to allow everyone, even new/shy members, to comfortably mingle and meet new people.
Our events are designed for people who want to mingle and meet new people.
All events will incur a small fee per attendee to help cover the yearly Meetup fees. This fee will be determined by the event host, and the payment method will be outlined within the event description. Please read this carefully, as each event may be different.
There is a strict no-show and uninvited-show policy. Please see below for more details.
Transgender women, nonbinary, and genderqueer people who identify as being part of a women’s space are extremely welcome in this group!
RSVPs, NO-SHOW, and UNINVITED-SHOW POLICY
RSVPs: If you’re quite sure you’re able to attend an event, please RSVP, however, if you’re interested but unsure if you’re available that day, please save the event and RSVP when you are sure.
Cancelation etiquette: If you have RSVPed and you’re no longer able to make it, please update your RSVP as soon as you can to "Not going".
No-shows: You will be flagged as "No-show" if you RSVP to an event and then don’t show up, or cancel after the event has started. We suggest you save any event you RSVP to to your phone’s calendar app to avoid accidental no-shows.
If you need help installing the Meetup app on your phone, or turning on notifications, Meetup has a great help section.
Uninvited-show: If you are not on the going list but still turn up with the intention of bypassing the wait list, you will be marked as an uninvited-show.
Three strike policy: If you are a no-show or uninvited-show for three events, you will be removed and banned from the group. Additionally, any member that costs the host money (and the member fails to reimburse the host) will be removed and banned from the group immediately.
Admin reserves the right to decline/remove any member.
WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT?
For every event we do a lot of planning including talking to the venue to let them know how many people are attending etc so they can roster appropriate staff. An accidental no-show or uninvited-show (when there is a cap on the number of people who can attend an event) won’t affect this too much. But if several people are either not turning up or turning up and they’re not on the list, this makes it so much harder to organise events and keep a good relationship with the venue.
If the rules of this group don’t suit you, you may wish to look into creating your own group. The more queer groups, the merrier!
