The 25th Annual Firehouse Chili Cook-Off

The 25th Annual Morton’s Firehouse Chili Cook-Off will take place Sunday, Oct. 19, from 2-5 p.m., on Osprey Avenue between Hyde Park Street and Hillview Avenue in Sarasota.
Admission is free, and tasting tickets are $15 for samples of firehouse chili. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Morton’s Gourmet Market, at 1924 S. Osprey Ave., or on the day of the event.
The competition will feature over a dozen firehouses from Sarasota, Cedar Hammock, Venice, Longboat Key, Englewood, and North Port — along with the Sarasota Police Department — competing for the title of Best Firehouse Chili in Sarasota.
Entertainment includes live music by The Bootleggers, a kids’ zone hosted by the Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida, food, beverages, raffles and more.
You’ll also have the chance to vote for the coveted People’s Choice Award, while a panel of celebrity judges selects the official winners.
Super Bowl Champion David Baas and his family have generously provided 100 tasting tickets for first responders, nurses, military members, law enforcement and teachers. These tickets will be distributed by SRQ Vets at their event tent.
All proceeds benefit the Sarasota Firefighters Benevolent Fund, a nonprofit organization supporting firefighters and their families in times of need.
